Description

Accelerated Freefall Course (AFF) is a training system for those who are really serious about becoming a Skydiver in a short time.

AFF is an intensive course, so you will be in a small group or possible on your own with your instructors, ensuring individual attention.

The programme is termed ‘Accelerated’ because the learning process is  faster than alternative training systems.

Due to its intensive nature AFF it is at its best when you can commit a continuous period of time to the whole training course and jumps. Substantial breaks in training or long weather delays can often impact your performance and progression and can raise additional training / re-jump costs. We generally offer AFF courses in the summer months when there is the likelyhood of better long term weather,  please talk to us about AFF and see if it’s right for you.

Based on eight levels of achievement, normally one skydive at each level. AFF is designed to take place over a full week. Given good weather, the course may sometimes be completed in a few days. After graduating from AFF you perform ten additional consolidation jumps, guided by your instructors, practising the skills you have learned, after which you will be recognised as a qualified solo skydiver.

The course commences with a day of ground based tuition with your Instructor. This covers the theory and practice of skydiving and the use of your parachute system. You will learn safety procedures, how the equipment operates, how to exit the aircraft with your Instructors, how to maintain control and communicate in freefall, how to initiate the opening of the main parachute, and how to steer down to the landing area and land safely. Before your  jumps you practise all the procedures for both your skydive and the parachute descent until your instructors are completely satisfied with your abilities.

When your Instructors are happy with your performance on the ground, you will make your first skydive with two Instructors holding on to you. They continue to teach you during freefall using a system of hand signals: following your jump a through debrief takes place with your Instructors, followed by remedial  training both to improve skills learned already and add those required for the next jump. To  find out more about AFF please contact us, for current AFF prices view our price list.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

  • Ground School – 6 Hours
  • Levels 1-3 – Two Instructors
  • Levels 4-7 – One Instructor
  • Level 8 – Dispatch
  • Full brief and de-brief of each level assisted by instructor video

As an alternative to AFF we also offer a 6 Jump RAPS “Solo Freefall” Course that combines the 1st Jump static line course with  5 additional jumps and training. This 6 jump course is targeted to take the participant to his or her 1st Solo Freefall jump subject to their satisfactory progress against the British Parachute Association’s Ram Air Progression System (RAPS) Category System. From there you will continue your training with us under the BPA RAPS Category System to gain your solo skydiver qualification. The 6 Jump RAPS “Solo Freefall” Course provides a more gradual training progression compared to AFF, takes roughly the same number of jumps to qualify and doesn’t require such a large initial outlay for the course charge when compared to AFF. However, the time taken to qualify using the RAPS category system is typically greater than that of qualifying using AFF.

Jump Requirements

Age is just a number, although we have to start somewhere!
To do a tandem skydive with us, you will need to be at least 16 years old and have your parent or legal guardian’s permission until age 18. The upper age limit is 55.

With skydiving, weight is essential
Nobody likes to talk about their weight, but with skydiving, it is essential for your and your instructors safety that we have to work within certain parameters.

The maximum allowable weight for any course is 13 stone for females and 15 stone for males, but body mass index will also be taken into account. We appreciate that some people will fall outside of these limits, but are still fit and active, so if this is the case, please call the office to discuss your individual requirements.

Please don’t be offended if you are weighed on the day. It is a requirement of all of our jumpers, and you will be asked to step on the scales prior to jumping.

Essential forms you MUST fill out and bring with you on the day:

Form 115c – Solo student declaration form
Form 115d – Solo student medical advice form

Photography Packages

Freefall Photography
You’ve got your skydive booked, capture the experience forever
So, you’ve got your skydive booked and want to know how you can capture this once in a lifetime experience?

We know how important it is for you to be able to share this amazing adventure with your friends & family, and of course, to update that all important new profile picture!

Here at Black Knights, we have two options for you to document your day. Read on below to see which one suits you best.

DVD & Stills Package
Get one of our professional freefall photographers

This package costs £120. With this option, you will be personally assigned one of our highly trained, professional freefall photographers.

You’ll meet with them as your instructor takes you to get kitted up for your jump. They’ll then have a chat to you on the ground, with your family & friends, before flying up to altitude with you, documenting everything on the way! When it’s your turn to jump, your photographer will climb onto the outside of the plane, and fly with you using their awesome skills to record and photograph you simultaneously as you fall with style through the clouds! Once your instructor deploys your parachute, your photographer will capture the opening, then fly away under their own parachute, ready to meet you on the ground to encapsulate that massive smile on your face as you touch down back to earth.

Your footage will then be edited in a matter of minutes, so by the time you’ve finished trying to find the words to tell your supporters how breath taking the experience was, your DVD will be ready to watch, and take home with a full set of over 100 high quality photographs to share, post, print and tweet as you please!

Handycam Package
Why not get up close and personal for the ultimate selfie?!

This package costs £95. Handycam does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a hand mounted camera worn by your instructor, to give you an alternative view of your skydive whilst taking both video and stills simultaneously. Your instructor will capture everything from the moment you are kitted up, to the second you touch back down.

Handycam focuses more on you and your facial expressions, in comparison to the DVD & Stills option, which will also give you a wider range of angles and scenery.

The great benefit of Handycam is that you will be able to include the canopy ride and your reactions as you glide down to earth. Remember, it records sound also, so watch those swear words if you’re going to be showing it to Grandma when you get home!

Spoilt for choice? The VIP Package
Combine all of the footage to create something truly memorable of your day

This package costs £190. Why not treat yourself to the VIP Package and combine both options together to get the best of both worlds?! After all, you’re only going to do it once… right?

Our editing technicians will be able to combine all of the footage to create something truly memorable of your day.
